A nation once ruined by the crushing defeat of World War II, Japan has worked its way to become the world’s 2nd greatest economy in only 50 short years. The security and comfort of being a wealthy nation has not provided the Japanese people the hope they need for the future. Suicide rates are notoriously high and youth crime has been skyrocketing in recent years. One thing is missing in Japan: Jesus. Less than 1% of the 127 million people composing Japan’s population are Christians. This makes the Japanese one of the worlds largest groups of people unreached by the gospel of Christ. The simple act of sharing God’s love and truth may be the greatest mercy ministry in Japan.
