DESCRIPTION:
Jesus told us to disciple every nation and teach them to obey all he commanded. How do we obey this commandment?
The Biblical Perspectives for Transforming Nations (BPTN) will equip YWAM missionaries with biblical principles for each domain and an understanding of how God brings transformation to a nation. This course aims to be practical – to teach both principles and application in real world situations — so you can obey Jesus’ command.
During the BPTN, you’ll learn how to find biblical principles of the kingdom of God in every domain of society. For example, we’ll discuss environmental issues, the make-up of families, and the role of government in a just society.
You’ll gain experience teaching and applying these principles in real world situations to see transformation. And you’ll trace how God has worked through men and women in history to bring transformation to individuals and communities. Throughout the school, you’ll research and strategize with God to create a plan to see real change brought to a real community.
Curriculum:
- Week 1: Worldview and Absolutes: This introduction to the school will lay the foundation for the rest of the weeks as we learn how ideas have consequences. We’ll also give an introduction to Kingdom of God thinking.
- Week 2: Principles of Church + application
- Weeks 3-6: Kingdom of God in History: These weeks will cover Kingdom of God principles, Worldview of History, Early Church history, Middle Ages, Pre-Reformation and Reformation Movements, the Enlightenment, Modernism, Post-Modernism, Revival movements and their fruit

- Students in the course will complete a research project, along with individual study assignments.
Field Assignment
The outreach location will be determined closer to the start of the school. Students will be involved from the beginning of the course in researching hands-on projects to apply principles during outreach. They will also teach the principles they’ve learned in cross-cultural settings. Our vision for the outreach is to partner with a YWAM center or other ministry, to apply the principles, create a change initiative, and sustain it. Students will also potentially be involved in second and third level BELT outreaches.
