Those Who Dwell Encounter God’s Presence

There is a story of a man who longed to encounter God. Each day, he snuck out of camp. Each day, he crawled into his special tent to call out for God’s presence. And each day, he refused to quit until God showed up.

His persistence and longing attracted God’s presence. He met with God in powerful ways. Sometimes, God’s presence was so tangible that a thick mist filled the tent. Other times, his friendship with God was so sweet that his face glowed.

This man was Moses. And his longing for God set him apart in his generation. His sweet encounters enabled him to turn a nation of rebels into a nation of worshipers.

Moses’ lifestyle portrays the heart of a true worshiper — humility, service, persistence, and longing. And his lifestyle has inspired generation after generation to dwell in God’s presence.*

Those Who Dwell Change the World

Several hundred years ago, one group of young people set themselves apart to dwell with God. Day after day, night after night, they sought His presence. For one hundred straight years, they didn’t give up.

That group of young people was the Moravians. And their 100 years of 24/7 prayer led to amazing encounters with God. In these encounters, they discovered God’s heart for the nations, for the lost, and for the suffering. Their prayer movement birthed a missions movement. This tiny group of God-chasers sent 226 missionaries to almost every continent within one generation. Many died in their efforts to spread God’s presence and love. But for them, no price was too great to pay for the one who’d paid it all for them.

Today, God is raising up another generation of radical worshipers. This generation longs to encounter God in powerful ways. They long to dwell in His presence. And they long to take His presence to the ends of the earth so that all might know the beauty of our King.

What does the DWELL DTS look like?

During DWELL DTS, you will discover what God says about topics like a lifestyle of worship, service, humility, perseverance, and freedom. You will have opportunities to lead worship, receive coaching on song writing, and join others who have a burning desire to encounter God. You will have fervent times of prayer and spontaneous jam sessions. At times, you may lose track of time and find spontaneous times of prayer and worship lasting long into the night or even all night.

In addition to the DTS curriculum, every week will offer an elective night to hone your creative spark. Some elective nights will offer training within your worship track to further develop your skills. Other nights will focus on projects that blend worship with the various art tracks of our SPARK DTS to create something together.

The worship track offers limited training and collaboration with other musicians, singers and artists. Within the context of a DTS, there is not time to do in depth training in any of these areas. However, YWAM’s University of the Nations offers many worship and arts focused schools for you to continue your training after DTS. DWELL DTS is also intended for those already play an instrument, sing, dance, etc. Beginner lessons are not part of the curriculum.

The Role of the Elective in DTS

The Dwell elective is an important part of DTS. We make special effort to customize the DTS so that you receive training related to your elective as you go through DTS. We also weave the elective into the type of ministry we do on outreach. But, the elective is not the primary point of DTS. The primary role of DTS is to disciple us to look like Jesus. DTS is designed to grow our understanding of God and His world, to deepen our walk with Him, and to share His love with the world through evangelism and mercy ministry. You should expect the DTS to stretch your comfort zones beyond your areas of gifting and the types of ministry you typically enjoy.
